Welcome to Indianapolis Summer Sprints Masters Regatta.  as this regatta has grown, our intent is to give crews a fantastic "pre- Nationals" opportunity to race their crews, test their speeds, and hone their racing skills. We look forward to having you all in Indy!

Saturday 6/20 ~8am ~3pm  - Racing

New in 2026:

-Free entry into the park for all regatta athletes, team staff, and spectators-Beer Garden 21+ and Food Truck-Full Upgraded Launch and Recovery docks. All New EZ Dock-Schedule allowing multiple races each day.-Designated Large Bus Parking lot 5' away from docks.

REGISTRATION: 

All registrations must be completed through Regatta Central. 

Waivers:    

  • This is a USRowing registered regatta.  All participating clubs must be registered with USRowing.
  • Please make sure you have verified that all your athletes have signed a single waiver using the USRowing roster management tool. All waivers must be completed and submitted online before the event.  No “hard-copy” waivers will be accepted.

Scratches:  Rowers who scratch or withdraw before the deadline are entitled to a full refund.  Rowers who scratch after the deadline will  NOT be subject to a refund.

Hot Seating  Hot seating (of equipment or personnel) will be performed at the crew’s risk of missing an event but we recommend at least 30 minutes between events for hot seating to take place. If the same equipment is going out the hot dock will take place on the retrieval dock area.

 


ARRIVAL AND LOGISTICS
Trailer parking: Teams may park in the grassy area adject to the recovery docks. The first trucks to arrive should fill in the back row first.
Trailers may arrive Friday afternoon  or Saturday Morning. 

On-Water Practice: Teams interested in practicing on the water, visiting teams have 2 options. Bring your own launch, or rent one from IRC for $50/hour. Please reach out to Chris.Marr@indyrowing.org to schedule ANY on-water practice session for your team.
 

Volunteer Policy: Volunteers are a critical component of all regattas. Our sport’s sustainability and success rely heavily on these dedicated supporters, who help ensure that our rowers, teams, coaches, spectators, and more have a safe, fair, and rewarding experience. We are asking each team provide at least 2 volunteers each day of the regatta to each work a 4-6 hour shift each day of the regatta. Please sign up for volunteer shifts HERE . Make sure to make a note of your team name when you sign up! 

Booster and Food Trailers: Food trailers will have designated stalls near the spectator area. Please do not park with the shell trailers. 

Park Entry Fee and Regulations: Free for regatta athletes, Volunteers, team staff, and spectators.

Team Tents:  Team tents are welcome.  The last 250m of the race course near the beach.

Concessions and Merchandise: Water will be available at the boathouse, but you must bring your own refillable water bottle. Alcoholic beverages will only be allowed in the designated beer garden and must be served by the designated servers. Regatta merchandise will be sold on site.

Trash/Recycling:  Please bring extra trash bags for your team area.  There is a large dumpster near the trailers for disposal. 

Security: Eagle Creek Park is a public park.  Please be sure to bring your personal valuables with you to your team area, or lock them in the trunk of your car.  DO NOT leave valuable items visible in your vehicle (on the seats or dashboard).  The gates to Eagle Creek Park are locked from sunset to sunrise.  All trailers will be in an area that is gated, locked and enclosed.

 

 

RACE SPECIFIC
Coaches & Athletes Meeting: The C&A  meeting is stated above.  All crews will be responsible for the information delivered at the meeting, regardless of attendance.

Electronic Timing: Heat Sheets and Results on CrewTimer

Locking on: Crews must be able to lock onto the starting platform by the 2 minute warning and scull their bow to maintain point. Crews unable to meet this basic safety and racing requirement will be excluded by the referees.

Launching:  Launch officials at the launch docks will launch boats on time. It is your responsibility to report to the starting line on time, no calls will be made. A representative must check-in with the dock master before launching for every race. 

Race Day Traffic Pattern:  Maps will be posted at the regatta site with the traffic pattern and the pattern will be covered in detail at the C&C Meeting.  

To reach the warm-up area, you will cross behind the course stake boats. Continue in the warm up zone with a clockwise pattern. On entering the course crews will have to back into stake boats. The furthest lane from the warm up zone(closest to the shore) will be lane 1.

When crews finish, you may turn to port and row back to the recovery docks on the outside of the course. You may also turn to starboard and commence a counter-clockwise cool down on the west side of the course.  In order to reach the recovery docks, you MUST row to the end of the course and cross to the east side of the course when the area is clear.

Bow Number:  Bring your own bow numbers. IRC does not provide bow numbers.

Equipment:  The Launch Dock Coordinator will be checking bow balls and quick release foot stretchers before crews launch.  Boats without these minimum requirements will not be allowed on the water.

Progression and Seeding
All events will be seeded by age, our intent is to provided as competitive of races as possible with those boats who have registered. A Single event may have multiple Heats of Time Trials, each theat of Time Trial will be seeded by age, young to old. 

Awards:  Medals will be awarded as results are finalized in CrewTimer. Placement will be determined from aggregate handicap times across all Heats of Time Tirals. Medals awarded to first, second, and third place across an entire event, the aggregate of all Heats of the TIme Trials  within a single event.  Medals may be picked up at the gazebo by the launch dock.   Note that medals will not be mailed to winners.  ALL medals must be picked up prior to teams departing the regatta venue.

  • 2 Entries - Gold only
  • 3 Entries - Gold and Silver
  • 4 Entries or more - Gold, Silver, and Bronze

WEATHER: It is possible that weather may delay racing.  If this is the case the following strategies may be taken to accommodate a shorter racing schedule:

  • Cancel small boat events
  • Shorten Course and Centers
  • Regatta canceled

It is also possible that in cases of wind the LOC, along with the chief referee, may make the decision to cancel small boat events in the interest of competitor safety. No refunds will be issued for canceled events

REFUND POLICY: If you scratch before the scrath deadline, you will receive a refund minus merchant processing fees. If you scratch after this date, a refund will not be issued. Also note, if your event is cancelled due to weather conditions, you will not be issued a refund. When you register for an event, you will be asked to agree with the refund policy.
