IRC Submission of Complaints Policy

IRC has established procedures that ensure all complaints related to inappropriate behavior at the Rowing Center are handled fairly, consistently, and with respect for the rights of all parties. Requiring written, non-anonymous complaints provides the documentation necessary to conduct an impartial review and to ensure due process for individuals named in a complaint. Please review the Policy on Submission of Complaints and Due Process for information on reporting a complaint.

- SafeSport  (Sexual Misconduct Complaints)

Indianapolis Rowing Center follows the SafeSport policies and reporting requirements established by USRowing and the U.S. Center for SafeSport. To report a SafeSport concern, please submit a report directly through the U.S. Center for SafeSport reporting system. For additional information about SafeSport policies, reporting procedures, and participant responsibilities, please visit the USRowing SafeSport webpage . If you are filing a complaint regarding sexual misconduct, a written submission to IRC is recommended, but not required.

IRC Heat Safety Protocols

The safety of our members and those that participate in our programs is our top priority. IRC coaches will modify workouts to align with the heat index as outlined in the chart below. Members utilizing the boathouse on their own are strongly encouraged to monitor the heat index and modify workouts accordingly.

Class Fees and Membership Refunds Policy

The Indianapolis Rowing Center will not refund class fees or membership fees, except in cases of injury, illness or death.  If this is the case, each situation will be coordinated with the Director, Coach(es) and member involved.

If a class is cancelled due to weather or forces outside of IRC's control, another class will be scheduled.  If you cannot make it to any other class that is offered, IRC will refund your class fee, minus 3% for processing fees.

You are responsible for registering for the correct class and program.  If there is a mistake and you are owed a refund, IRC will grant the credit, minus 3% for processing fees.

If you are enrolled in recurring payments and wish to cancel your membership, you must give IRC a 30 day notice.  Recurring payments are taken out on the 1st of each month for that current month.

Eagle Creek Park Gate Fee Policy

The Indianapolis Rowing Center is privileged to be located in Eagle Creek Park, one of the largest City Park in the United States.  We enthusiastically support the park, and our members are expected to abide by park rules.  IRC members, juniors and parents (dropping off/picking up) are NOT exempt from paying park admission.  We suggest that our members and juniors buy a season pass or make a donation to the Eagle Creek Park Foundation at a level that includes a park pass.

Late & Past‑Due Payment Policy

  1. Payment Due Date
    • All fees (e.g. training, equipment, membership, regatta/travel costs) must be paid in full by the end of the first week of the season or the start date of the program, class, or event.
  2. Late Payment Penalties
    • If full payment is not received within 30 days after the due date, the participant will be assessed a late fee of $50.
    • If the balance remains unpaid 30 days past due, the participant will be ineligible to race, and will be blocked from re-registering for any future programs or seasons until the account is cleared.
  3. Registration Restriction
    • Outstanding balances from previous seasons must be paid in full before a participant can register for a new season or program.
  4. Financial Hardship Accommodations
    • Individuals with demonstrated financial need may apply for financial assistance. Upon approval, the balance due may be adjusted, and a payment plan agreed upon to allow continued participation.
  5. Communication Protocol
    • IRC will send reminders at key intervals (e.g., due date, 14 days late, 30 days late) via email.
    • Participation restrictions will only be enforced after appropriate notification has been provided.

Financial Assistance

IRC is committed to making rowing accessible to all. Financial assistance is available to cover training and regatta fees for athletes who qualify.  The IRC Financial Assistance Committee will review applications and determine awards based on demonstrated need and fund availability each season/year.
