Audrey Lupton Endowed Scholarship
Audrey Lupton touched many lives during her 17 years, and one community that was fortunate to be part of that special circle of
friends was the Indianapolis Rowing Juniors team. As coach Mike wrote when he had the difficult task of telling the IRC
community of Audrey’s death in July, “While she was very much a lightweight when it came to rowing, her battle with
cancer over the last few months showed that behind the small frame was the heart and spirit of a true competitor. Audrey has shown us that we each have so much more fight in us that we can ever imagine.”
To honor Audrey’s spirit and to continue her example of
making the world a better place, the IRC board has
established the Audrey Lupton Endowed Scholarship to help
ensure that money is never a barrier to participation in the sport of rowing. To that end, the Indianapolis Rowing Center is hosting the
1st Annual Lup Lup Gallup 5K
at Eagle Creek on October 21st, 2017. You can register now by following the link above. Feel free to bring your dogs as well as a tribute to Audrey.
When fully funded, the scholarship will be awarded annually to support rowers with financial needs. We
believe that rowing is transformational. Through rowing kids and adults not only develop fitness and
friendships, but lifelong skills of discipline, collaboration, and leadership. Audrey exemplified the core
values of IRC, and we hope that the scholarship is an enduring legacy to Audrey’s memory.
